Lai Wentao is a highly skilled professional with a wealth of experience in vessel systems and equipment.

After graduating from Dalian Maritime University in 2011 with a major in Machinery Engineering, Lai served as a machinery supervisor in the technical center of COSCO Shipyard. During his time there, he participated in various projects such as bulk carriers, shuttle tankers, crude oil tankers, and offshore vessels. In 2017 and 2018, he worked as a service engineer for BWMS and EGCS retrofitting.

Lai has been working as a maritime surveyor since 2019 and has participated in jetty damage and repair surveys, oil pollution claim handling, shipyard and assessment, among other projects. He is knowledgeable in many types of merchant and offshore vessels and is familiar with Class documentations and shipyard procedures.

Lai has handled various events in vessels including P&I surveys, H&M surveys, condition surveys, and all kinds of vessel damage surveys. He has monitored vessel repairs, whether temporary or in shipyard drydock, and provided necessary help to owners dealing with local MSA and shipyard procedures.

Lai is fluent in Mandarin and English and has excellent communication skills. He has demonstrated strong organizational and managerial skills, as well as good command of quality control processes.
Since 2022 Lai works with Rely in the role of marine surveyor for the Shangai and Zhoushan areas.
